Draft copy Code4Kids’s Grade 2 Computer Science (CS) curriculum guides young learners deeper into the world of CS as a creative, purposeful, and collaborative journey.
The Orange Level curriculum builds on foundational skills developed in earlier grades, helping Grade 2 students confidently explore key computer science concepts in age-appropriate ways.
Across 4 units and 12–20 lessons, children will learn to plan and create step-by-step solutions, compare different strategies, and use digital tools to share their ideas. They’ll develop core skills such as navigating software, selecting the right tools for a task, and practicing responsible technology use. Throughout, students will strengthen their computational thinking - asking questions, testing solutions, and refining their approaches.
Each lesson is designed for a 30 to 45-minute period, ideally once a week, nurturing curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a growing sense of digital independence.
