How Code4Kids May Fit Within Your CSTAG Award

Under current Louisiana Department of Education guidance, school systems may receive up to $40,000 through CSTAG.

Grant funding may include up to 60% for eligible professional learning and training-related costs and up to 40% for eligible technology or software used by students in computer science. For a full $40,000 award, up to $16,000 may therefore be available for eligible student technology or software.

Code4Kids can prepare a proposal that separates student software, curriculum and platform access, online onboarding, professional development and implementation support. This makes it easier for your school system to assess each component against its approved CSTAG budget and LDOE’s applicable funding requirements.

Final allowability is determined by the Louisiana Department of Education and the school system’s approved CSTAG application and budget. Code4Kids does not guarantee grant reimbursement or approval. LDOE currently identifies specific approved computer science training-provider routes. School systems should confirm whether Code4Kids-delivered onboarding or professional development may be charged to their professional-learning allocation. Code4Kids software, professional development and implementation services can be itemized separately to give districts flexibility when planning their procurement.

CSTAG is an annual competitive funding opportunity administered by the Louisiana Department of Education. Louisiana public school systems and public charter school systems may apply for funding to address identified computer science implementation needs.

In the most recent cycle, school systems could apply for awards of up to $40,000.
Priority points were given to school systems that had not previously received CSTAG funding, school systems with a low percentage of computer science-certified teachers and school systems serving CIR or UIR sites.
